Lots of provinces with low development but high unrest, even if I reduce the autonomy. I think why I don't play as Ottomans, or atleast dislike it when I play with it is the poor development around Ottomanas (mainly Asia).

Probably because I get ♥♥♥♥ ton of manpower and don't need take quantity ideas. I dunno, as muslim ottomans for some reason I get bored really fast, now, as Orthodox it is more fun for me for some reason. Ally France, grab Crimea and Persia as Marches, and take everything that isn't nailed down (and come back for that stuff with a hammer). Grab a bunch of free cores at the beginning, and steamroll your way through everything in your path. There's no reason why Morocco shouldn't colonize, for example, and for Ming it's pretty much essential to success.Originally posted by Malvastor:I'm sure it's a super cliche answer, but the Ottomans are super fun. Ultimately though, any nation with a strong navy, a secure position and access to appropriate land can make a good colonizer. Native Americans also rely heavily on colonization to expand, and have a unique means of doing so prior to the arrival of Europeans. Cusco/Inca and any of the Malayan minors gets a bonus colonist as part of their national ideas, allowing them to expand into the uncolonized territory around them more quickly. There are also a few interesting non-Western colonizers. This means you basically have a free idea group to play around with, and can still reap some of the benefits of colonizing (generally, Norway will want to aim for Canada/Vinland as that's the only colony which will be able to directly feed trade to their strongest node in the North Sea).Ĭolonial nations are also excellent colonizers, although it takes some time to set up. Norway is interesting because, if you don't mind being a bit late on the scene, Norway can colonize over long distances without needing to take exploration ideas. No nation in the game can colonize as well as Castille.

Of those, Castille is by far the best at it. Castille, Muscovy, France and England are all big major power nations which have ideas related, in some way, to colonization.
